This week we have EMILY BIRSAN!!!!!! Emily is an incredibly creative and talented soprano and an alumna of the Ryan Opera Center at the Lyric Opera of Chicago. She is SOOOOOOOO funny and charming and was a pleasure to talk to. We talk about hearing colors, the art of Egon Sheile (his paintings make me feel weird on my insides), opera seats that hug you, and imbuing music with feelings and freedom. She was so gracious with her time and I feel very thankful to get her on the show.
You can also check out her new blog at The Neighborhood Soprano! It’s gonna have maps!
Emily is going to be performing Anne Truelove in Stravinsky’s The Rake’s Progress at the Edinburgh International Festival on August 4th – 12 and you can hear her on a new recording of Elgar’s King Olaf with Sir Andrew Davis and the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra and ALAN OPIE on the Chandos Label. Buy it now and support your phenominal local talent!
